18x24in oil paint on canvas.
I will post a better photo soon.. Also, I want to refine it a bit more.
I did this in 6 days.. Lots of caffeine... hehe
To me this painting is a bit political. It has to do with, (but not entirely) this administrations greed. I used the game of monopoly as an allegory, as a part of it.
The Top Hat represents the government's/ player, and my pieces/ are thimbols which represent the common peoples. So, the game is high class or people in power that are not doing a good job, versus the working class who has to pay the consequences for those peoples actions.
Also, I sort of wanted it to be a little wedding like. For instance, a bride who's husband/lover is already doomed to war/death because of greed dealing with money or beliefs.
On the side of mine/the common people, there are plates full of roses... sort of like love being devoured, as if it can't exist if there is death because of ignorant wars, or greed.
On the 'Hats" side are monopoly pieces(houses), money, and dice. The government is eating up all those things, while the workers are at loss.
The light that is reflected in the window represents souls that have passed.
The skull to the right represents illuminated death.
The picture above 'death' is a girl cuddling a wounded dove, or wounded peace.
The Victorian aspect of it represents greed through out all of time.
The empty champagne glass and spoon represent a cheers/celebration of love that will never happen because the wedding is already terminated because of war.
The question of the ring being put on or taken off means uncertainty, not in the aspect of love but because you don't know what will happen at any moment in life.
The dice add up to 777.. meaning god.
Ok enough said for now.. I know it's a lot. haha!!
